The Pemamo process is closer to lapping than honing, and this machine uses a superabrasive (diamond-like) plated tool that expands a micron at a time. This ‘E’ version is similar to a manual Speedhone or Sunnen MBB1660 machine where the operator strokes the workpiece back and forth over the tool removing a micron or so of stock at a time. It is exceedingly accurate and simplifies the honing process on jobs with minimal stock removal.

You place your work-piece on the tool and this EH version automatically strokes it over the tool which in turn expands as the process runs until final size is achieved. It is exceedingly accurate and simplifies the honing process on long running jobs.

A fine example of Delapena’s last generation Speedhone EM machine. Introduced in 1992 the EM replaced the original Speedhone’s mechanical drive with a variable speed 1.5kW rotation motor which benefits from being able to electronically control the spindle’s acceleration & braking throughout it’s design range of 250 -2500rpm. Much better suited to small bore work than the original Speedhone, the EM is perfect for jobbing shops & toolroom work.
